It’s been a while. I’m sorry. I can give you a good update though. I think life is finally looking up. My hubby just finished what we’re pretty sure is his last surgery. About two weeks ago, we went to have a surgery. It was so hard on him because they originally said that he’d have to have this ugly procedure done that would leave him looking much different. He really struggled to try to accept this fact.
I have to say, it’s like some kind of miracle. They told me a week before that his hand hadn’t had a lot of progress. That was Monday. The next Monday we were supposed to have an appointment, but since we had to be there again on Wednesday and it’s a 3 hour drive, we opted to just skip that appointment. Then Sunday night I noticed it looked different. On Monday, it looked even better. Tuesday I thought Oh man…we might be going in the right direction. Finally, on Wednesday night I was like oh man this is a real possibility we might be able to just go for skin grafting. WE WERE ABLE TO!
He ended up with more damage to tendons than we would like, but honestly, I can’t complain with what we have been left with. I’m still upset by how things are, but I think it’ll take me some time to accept that this is our new life. I think that’s pretty common. We have a great support group that has been reaching out to us and helping us. I’d have been lost without them. It’s funny how life works.
I’m hoping I’m back ya’ll. I’m trying really hard to be active. I just have time that I can do stuff and then I have times I can’t. We’re getting ready to list our house, because the steps in our house are difficult for Michael to climb sometimes. It’s a hassle ya’ll. I can barely keep my house clean, get my school work done, and get all of hubby and Coop’s needs met. I think I’m fighting a losing battle.
I Wash, You Dry had a recipe I wanted to try, so we gave it a go. It’s good. Next time I’m going to try using broccoli cheese soup.
- 2 (10oz) cans Cheese Soup
- 2 and 2/3 cups water
- 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 1/2 cups uncooked Jasmine rice
- 3 cups broccoli florets (I used fresh, but you could substitute with frozen)
- 2 cups chopped ham
- 1 cup shredded colby jack cheese
Mix everything, but cheese. Cover with foil and bake one hour on 350. Cover with cheese and allow to bake until bubbly. Enjoy!
