Sorry guys, this isn’t a recipe today! I wanted to offer some advice since the holidays are upon us. At Thanksgiving I saved my ham bone and froze it until I was ready to use it again. I ended up making this yummy meal. It’s Spanish Bean Soup. It’s one of my favorite soups in the world. The point is though if you save the bones you can create something beautiful later on. You don’t let parts go to waste. I’m not saying throw every chicken bone in the freezer. However, if you’re like me and you don’t make ham every day, or turkey every day…you could really get some nice broth from these items. Turkey- I usually just make a broth and freeze the broth. It’s versatile like chicken broth. However, ham’s I save bones and all. The good thing about the ham is when it braises for a period of time it starts to fall off the bone. In my opinion, this makes it pretty good in soups because you can get bits of ham in your soup.
