Blueberry dump cake


One thing I’m not a fan of is camping. I hate sleeping in a tent, or on an air mattress, or just in a sleeping bag on the ground. I guess it hasn’t all been bad. When we went camping for the first time it was with cub scouts. I try to like it. A few of my friends love it. I just have this reoccurring nightmare. I’m in the tent in the middle of the night. I have to pee. The toilet’s are across the campground. I have to go so bad and I can’t hold it anymore. I get up I run. It’s dark, it’s cold, it’s scary. I get to the bathroom and I can’t go. It’s dark, it’s creepy, it smells like a port a john. No thanks! Plus most of the bathrooms at campground’s I have been to are dirty. They have bugs and spiders all over. Guys, IT IS MY WORST nightmare. Ok enough about the bathrooms. This cake, I made because I needed something easy for dessert. It was the biggest hit! Most all of the dump cakes with blueberries are something like lemon blueberry. I hate lemon. With passion. That’s the best thing about this one. It doesn’t taste like you dumped a bunch of lemon in the cake.

1 can of blueberry pie filling

1 box yellow cake mix

1 can lemon-lime soda

Line cast iron dutch oven with foil. Pour in pie filling. In a bowl add the cake mix and the soda. Stir until just combined. Pour over top of the filling.

Here’s where the directions can change. If you’re cooking in the oven. Cook at 350 degrees. This cooks depending on temperature for 20-30 minutes. Cook until done.

If you’re doing it outside with coals. Set the dutch oven over hot coals. Add 10-12 coals to the top of the lid. It’ll take about 30 minutes. At this point you need to start checking it. Make sure you use tongs or the special tool made for the dutch oven. Serve hot!
